5 Beautiful Spring Maternity Dresses

Spring – my favorite part of the year.  I love the grass growing green again.  Seeing busy bumble bees buzz blissfully by.  And my absolute favorite – smelling the sweetest scent of spring from my Sweet Olive bushes.

I thought it’d be fun to do a little shopping and find some beautiful Spring dresses perfect for all those cute baby bellies out there.  Any one of them would be perfect for your Belly Shoot.

Chic Spring Maternity Dresses

Dress #1 will show your beautiful baby bump in all its glory – perfect for capturing it on film to remember it forever.

The color of Dress #2 is called Ultra Berry and I just love it.  It’s such a striking color and the sleeves are adorable.  The lace detail adds so much texture.  Awesome for the camera.

Who wouldn’t look and feel beautiful in Dress #3?  Can you say Grecian goddess!

The floral print of Dress #4 is so fun and flirty and Spring-y.

And Dress #5 is so chic, don’t you think?  The cut is classy and that coral color is so in right now.

Happy shopping! And be sure to book your maternity shoot between 28-36 weeks.  That way your belly is nice and full without you being too uncomfortable.

Call now to book your session – 251-605-3600.

The Grand Entrance of Cyrus Monroe Thompson

Cyrus01One thing I’ve always wanted to do was photograph a live birth.  I finally got my chance and I was not disappointed.  This experience was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever experienced.

Two months ago today, I was at my granddaughter’s first birthday party when I got the call.  Kathryn and Rob were on their way to the hospital to meet their sweet little man.  When I arrived, Kathryn had been laboring most of the day.  Rob and Kathryn’s doula, Karla Lindquist, were at her side comforting her and cheering her on.  (Side note:  Everyone should consider having a doula!)

Kathryn had a natural birth so she was able to get up and walk around or get in the bath tub. She did a little of both!  Rob continued to stay right by her side the entire time.  He was rubbing her head or getting her water – you could feel the love they have for each other.  They were such a joy to watch!

Kathryn labored all day and pushed for hours.  She was a true champion!  Cyrus Monroe Thompson finally arrived right before midnight (on his due date) weighing in at 8 lbs. 7.3 ozs.  He was bright eyed and calm.  This little family was at once whole and perfect.

I’m not sure if I can explain the way I felt when I saw this little human enter the world.  The whole process was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed in my entire life.  And the cool thing is that I got to capture it through my photography and share it with Cyrus’s mommy and daddy to have forever.  I hope and pray I’ll get the opportunity to experience and document many more.

Happy 2 months, Cyrus.  I’m so excited you’re one of my Sweet Club babies because that means I get to capture your whole first year!  And what a start!

Mommy Monday | I’m booorrrrred…

“Mommy, I’m booorrrrred…”  On a list of the most annoying things your child can say, this has to be ranked pretty high.  For me, it’s the ungrateful-ness of it that really gets under my skin.  My daughter, who has a soon-to-be-five year old son, just expressed to me her frustration in her son’s newest favorite phrase.  It inspired her to create this super cute printable and she was kind enough to let me share it with you…for FREE!

Bored?

I love this!  Instead of a lecture on all the luxuries he needs to appreciate or threats that all those toys are going to be donated (not that there’s not a time and place for that!), redirect that whiny statement to this cute poster and help him take control of his time.

If you like this poster, please be sure to check out my daughter’s Etsy Store, where she designs some really beautiful customizable invitations and party packages.

Mommy Monday | Baby Bundle App

Good morning, Mommies!  This post is for YOU.  I wanted to share with you a brand new app – the Baby Bundle App – just released April 3, 2014.  I think it’s pretty cool and a wonderful asset for any new parent to have.

bb_gallery_ss_monitoring

With the Baby Bundle App you can record your baby’s daily activities with “several fabulous yet uncomplicated tools.”  It offers monitoring tools,  growth charts, a place for you to keep vaccination records and it even offers a photo journal!  There are a lot of apps out there that do one or two of these things, but this app does it ALL.  (Side note: Some of the features are free and others are only a few dollars.)

Life is busy and it’s hard to sit down and elegantly and regularly fill out a book.  We all have good intentions but it’s easy to forget.  If you’re anything like me, this is how it goes down… “Look at this super cute scrapbook/journal!  I am going to fill out every page until she’s 18 years old and be the best mom in the whole world!  One day I’m going to be able to give this to her when she’s all grown up and her eyes will get all teary and she’ll thank me for loving her so much.  She’ll realize what a treasure it is and what a treasure I am.  Siiiighh.  It’ll be beautiful.” Haha! I might have mostly filled out the first few months of my first child’s book.  Maybe a few entries in my second child’s book.  By the third and fourth…fuhgetaboutit.

With this app, you can have access to it right on your smart phone and fill it out when you have a few spare minutes.  I wish I had all of these records of my children!  Check it out!!!

Do you have a favorite app? I’m always looking for new ones!
